So Much To Say… February 27, 2008

…So little time.

I am pooped.  I had a sitter again today but managed to be even more tired at night than normal!  Huh?  It was nice though.

I did have my first “old” moment today… I was hanging out with my 6 year old niece and on the way to church tonight we heard a parody of the Flintstones TV theme.  She made some comment that it sounded like some song she had heard so I say…”well, yeah.  It’s the flintstone song!”  She looked at me like I was speaking Japanese.  So I thought…surely she just misunderstood… so I tried again… “you know, Barney Rubble, and Fred Fintstone?”  Nothing.  She had NO clue!  That was such a strange feeling! It is beginning to happen…the years are adding up…slowly but surely the generation gaps are setting in…blah.

Anyway, my pink hair goes blue tomorrow morning with my little ladies bible study!  (I know that is killing you Christie but it is just my twisted humor!)   So I am off to bed cause I gotsa early mornin’.

 PEACE!

Treadmill Etiquette February 25, 2008

1. Treadmill etiquette.  You know when you are working out and someone comes up beside you and begins running alongside?  Well, make sure they do not sweat profusely.  I have a “friend” we will call him (I use the term loosly since all I know about him is that he sweats…a lot.) that always happens to be running at the same time as me.  Well, you would think this would be nice, right?  A running buddy.  Oh my goodnes… they dude is like 6 foot 6 and as he runs his elbows and fingers spray me and my little 5 foot 2 frame with his over-sized beads of sweat!  Ugh! I mean, the guy has a towel! Use it.

It is like being in a shower.  Except it is a strange dudes sweat and you are in public and you seem to walk away dirtier than when you started.  So what would you do?  How would you handle that?  I mean, the guy seems like a nice dude and all but c’mon!  It ain’t no secret, buddy.   (I feel so impersonal…we will call him…Vladimir. I think that is what he looks like.)

Okay, second part of training…I am not a particularly “politically correct” person…so I will try to be very diplomatic in how I say this.  I tend to be blunt for the sake of being descriptive but definately do not want to offend anyone.  …Overweight people are not the only ones who are insecure at the gym and quite frankly..sometimes I feel discriminated against because I am not fat enough!  Let me explain… (I am not basing this story on fact…just observation but I feel I am correct)  Today I was walking along (no Vladimir in sight…) and there was a woman next to me who was pretty heavy set.  Well, I think it is awesome to see people in the gym and very encouraging.  They are taking control of their lives back.  So anyway, I start walking and I notice her kinda begin to appear uncomfortable with me being next to her.  Like I had cooties or something.  Well, it was not more than a minute til she up and left… only to go a few treadmills down next to another woman who was similar in frame and restart her work out. (Not appearing to even know this woman.  Did she think I did’nt see her?  Did I smell?  Was it my pink hair?  I have often felt like some (key word…some) women in the gym will not give me a chance to say hello or  have a conversation because they immediately judge meas being “one of them” meaning a snobby young “skinny” (I use that term lightly) girl.  Well…it hurts my feelings.  You can not and must not judge people on appearance.  At least I always have Vladimir.

I did it.  Today was the day.  I turned the corner.  It was an overall good day.  I celebrated by well as I told you yesterday… getting my hair done.

I have had my own type of “bucket list” (things you’d like to accomplish before you kick the bucket…).  One of them being putting hot pink highlights in my hair!  Whaaat?   Did she just say that?  Yup, thats right, people.  I did it. I went for it.  And let me tell ya… I Loooove it.  It is me.

It felt great to let loose and do something unexpected and fun!  I highly recommend it!   We all laughed in the salon that some people have affairs, get a sportscar, overspend….. I go pink!  Hey, it’s the healthier option!

I was a little worried about looking silly since I am a mom and all but hey, I’m not getting any younger so I might as well get it out now!  (I think it would look a little sillier at 44 instead of 24!)

So there… go do something crazy.  Go big.  And love every second of it!  If you need a partner in crime just let me know!  I would love to be there for ya!  I am great at talking people into tattoos!  It’s hilarious!

Life is short, hair grows back, piercings come out, tattoos will be removable before we know it!  Go live and don’t regret!  (Listen to me bein’ all positive and crap!  How hypocritical am I?!!)

 Tehehehehe…

Silly Excitement! February 13, 2008

I am not sure if anyone will be able to relate to this but I am so excited!  I have a hair appointment tomorrow morning and I always feel so good after that!  Isnt it silly?!!  I like to think every girl gets this feeling after they walk out of a salon.  Men, if you are thinking of what to get your wife/girlfriends, dog sitter… whatever… a pampering hair day is awesome!  It just makes ya feel renewed and purty!

There is an awesome salon in Daytona Beach off route 400 called Salon 31 (named after my favorite scripture Proverbs 31).  There are some wonderful ladies who work there and it just feels like your hanging out with the girls.  They are inspiring and I am glad they are in my life. One of the receptionists was the person who turned me on to my church and I am forever grateful!

So anyway… I am trying to focus on the good and well, I am excited to have a nice morning.

Here’s to a good day tomorrow!!!
